Healthcare providers can attest to the fact that we are in the business of providing “sick” care - consistently playing defense with patients’ health. Now, instead of waiting for heart attacks, strokes or cancer diagnoses, we will see technologic ‘convergence’ help us put “health” and proactivity back into the healthcare system.
Healthcare is being re-imagined; it must! Fact: the most cutting edge technology still frequently used for communicating data today: the fax machine. Most medical records are turning electronic, but for the most part, most are still paper charts.
To keep up with the fast changing world and consumer expectation, the merger of information technology with health is crucial in helping us gain the offensive advantage in healthcare.

We are now in the driver’s seat, re-imagining the uses of the technologies that’s are already here.

Think about this: noone reinvented anything new when it came to Uber. GPS, Google maps and mobile phones are technologies that had already been in existence and widely used. But with technological integration- ‘convergence’, a solution was created that has disrupted the taxi industry.

There will be increased exploration and investment into genomics, digital, mobile and Connective health instead of the present economy: spending most money on a sick care system that is failing, bankrupting the country’s finance and health.
We will continue to see more disruptions in other industries as well, but for this discussion, I’m excited for our “health” care, as there is a need for faster, continuous, efficient and economic proactivity. By far, IT has proven to be the exponential advancement our healthcare system needs.
